Uniqueness and Non-uniqueness in Inverse Radiative Transfer

چکیده
We characterize the non-uniqueness in the inverse problem for the stationary transport model, in which the absorption a and the scattering coefficient k of the media are to be recovered from the albedo operator. We show that “gauge equivalent” pairs (a, k) yield the same albedo operator, and that we can recover uniquely the class of the gauge equivalent pairs. We apply this result to show unique determination of the media when the absorption a depends on the line of travel through each point while scattering k obeys a symmetry property. Previously known results concerned directional independent absorption a.

ON EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF THE FORWARD AND INVERSE PROBLEM IN REFRACTIVE INDEX BASED OPTICAL TOMOGRAPHY By
In optical tomography, conventionally the diffusion approximation (DA) to the radiative transport equation (RTE) with a constant refractive index is used. The existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness of the forward and the inverse problem using conventional DA has been studied in the past. In this report, we investigate the existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness of optical tomography forwar...

متن کاملA Uniqueness Theorem of the Solution of an Inverse Spectral Problem
This paper is devoted to the proof of the unique solvability ofthe inverse problems for second-order differential operators withregular singularities. It is shown that the potential functioncan be determined from spectral data, also we prove a uniquenesstheorem in the inverse problem.
متن کاملThe uniqueness theorem for inverse nodal problems with a chemical potential
In this paper, an inverse nodal problem for a second-order differential equation having a chemical potential on a finite interval is investigated. First, we estimate the nodal points and nodal lengths of differential operator. Then, we show that the potential can be uniquely determined by a dense set of nodes of the eigenfunctions.
متن کاملFive-value rich lines, Borel directions and uniqueness of meromorphic functions
For a meromorphic function $f$ in the complex plane, we shall introduce the definition of five-value rich line of $f$, and study the uniqueness of meromorphic functions of finite order in an angular domain by involving the five-value rich line and Borel directions. Finally, the relationship between a five-value rich line and a Borel direction is discussed, that is, every Borel direction of $f$ ...
